WARPRAYER REVIEW: * IN THE SHIT - "A world of." LP: Truth to be told: I sincerely didn't know that IN THE SHIT - http://www.intheshitpunkrock.com - are still around. I mean, after 2 amazing 7"es ("Can't take anymore" ['98], "The fall of the damned" ['99]) and a LP ("A cancerous society" ['00]) it seemed they decided to call their quits, but fortunately I was wrong (huh?), so you should be prepared for another full length album of relatively fast, angry and totally snotty hardcorepunk with pissed as fuck vocals! Lyrically IN THE SHIT attack any- and everything which pisses them off and please believe me: That's a whole lot, so I'm glad I'm not their foe! I think this longplayer rules from the first to the very last second!! |
| RIPPING THRASH REVIEW: IN THE SHIT World of. LP Good to see this South Wales band back. At one time they used to be playing at loads of gigs and picnics around here, then it all went quiet for a couple of years, some lineup changes took place and now they're back with this their 2nd full album. Despite the lineup changes, they have maintained pretty much the usual ITS sound - crunching anarcho punk rock, raging but with a hint of a tune. Angry political lyrics too that match the music perfectly. UK promoters - get this band some gigs will ya! | TERRORIZER REVIEW : IN THE SHIT ‘A World Of…’ BLIND DESTRUCTION/MASS PRODUCTION Reliable Welsh thrashers In The Shit return with another collection of ripping metallic punk, and it makes you wonder just why these guys aren’t ten times bigger than they are. They seem to have all the right ingredients – powerful memorable songs, a massive thick production, a dogged work ethic (they’ve trawled the continent in their battered transit van more times than I care to remember)… but oops, they’re not in the pockets of the music press, and there’s the rub, you see. Oh well, for those who can see past the haze of hype surrounding lesser bands just ‘cos of where they’re from, who they’re signed to and who they used to be sleeping with, this is devastatingly heavy D-beat hardcore punk, furiously intense musically, unbearably angry lyrically. The only slight let-up comes with ‘Requiem Of The Rude Boy’, their tribute to the late, great Joe Strummer, and the hidden bonus track, a cover of ‘Easy Way Out’ by The Adicts. Do yourself a favour if you reckon you like punk rock and check out In The Shit; you can rest assured these guys won’t be selling you down the river anytime soon. [8] Ian Glasper |
| PROFANE EXISTENCE REVIEW: AT FIRST I DIDNT KNOW QUITE WHAT TO EXPECT, A SERIOUS PUNK BAND OR A CLICHE STREETPUNK BAND LIKE SO MANY OTHERS. ACTUALLY,IT COULDNT BE MUCH FURTHER FROM THE WORD CLICHE,THEY PLAY A VARIATION OF MUSIC STYLES ,NOT LIMITING THEMSELVES TO ONE,AND SING ABOUT EVERYTHING BUT SPIKEY HAIR AND GETTING DRUNK .ROLLING ,UPTEMPO BASSLINES AND THRASHY GUITARS CHARACTERIZE THE 2ND LP RELEASED BY IN THE SHIT. THIS ENTIRE RECORD IS A FUN LISTEN BECAUSE EACH SONG'S STYLE VARIES SLIGHTLY, KEEPING THE MUSIC FROM GETTING REPETITIVE. THEY PLAY MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE STYLE OF MUSIC:UPBEAT TUNES WITH SERIOUS AS HELL MEANINGS BEHIND THEM. I AM PRETTY SURE ANYONE WILL LIKE THIS RECORD (DESPITE THE SLIGHTLY LUDICROUS NAME ) AND WONT BE ABLE TO GET THE SONGS OUT OF THEIR HEAD ONCE THEY ARE DONE LISTENING TO IT.(ZACH | IN THE SHIT "a world of..." http://www.punk-hardcore.info review: Hehe, nice band name and cool title too. The production on this album is more powerful than on the first one, but I believe the music stayed the same ; it’s Uk punk. What else can I say ? It’s not really hardcore, it’s not metal, it’s not Oï, it’s just that ’82 punk sound with a modern production. I like them, their first Cd was good and so were their live performances, but I have always thought they lacked a little something. Negative, hateful, socially aware lyrics. (Y.B.) |
